Responsibilities of a BOM Engineer 1. BOM Creation and Maintenance: • Create and maintain product Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring accuracy and completeness of all materials and components. • Update BOMs promptly according to product design and engineering changes. 2. Data Management: • Manage and update BOM data to ensure its accuracy within ERP/MRP systems. • Regularly review and clean up BOM data, eliminating redundancy or errors. 3. Collaboration with Departments: • Work closely with design, engineering, production, procurement, and quality departments to ensure the BOM meets actual production requirements. • Participate in new product development and change management processes, providing technical support and advice. 4. Cost Control and Optimization: • Analyze BOM data to identify and suggest cost optimization opportunities. • Support product cost accounting and analysis activities. 5. Documentation Management: • Maintain relevant technical documents and records, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. • Write and update operational manuals and process documentation related to BOM management. 6. Training and Guidance: • Provide training and guidance on BOM management systems and processes to relevant personnel. Requirements for a BOM Engineer 1. Educational Background: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. 2. Work Experience: • Over 2 years of BOM management experience in manufacturing or related industries. • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems usage and management. 3. Professional Skills: • Proficiency in BOM management software (such as SAP, Oracle, etc.). • Strong data analysis skills and attention to detail. • Familiarity with product development and engineering change processes. 4. Personal Qualities: • Excellent communication and coordination skills, capable of effective collaboration with various departments. • Team player with problem-solving abilities. • High sense of responsibility and professional ethics. 5. Language Skills: • Good English reading and writing skills, able to read and understand technical documents in English (depending on company requirements). 6. Other Requirements: • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations. • Holding relevant professional certifications (such as PMP, CPIM, etc.) is preferred.
