Senior Set Designer

Job Purpose: As a Senior Set Designer at Plus 855, you will be responsible for leading the conceptualization, design, and execution of visual environments across music productions, commercial shoots, events, and artist showcases. This role goes beyond 3D modeling—it requires a strong foundation in graphic design, visual storytelling, and team leadership as you collaborate with directors, creative leads, and production staff to bring immersive worlds to life. You will also play a pivotal role in developing our internal Set Design Team, mentoring junior designers and ensuring consistency in creative execution aligned with Plus 855’s brand and artistic vision. Key Responsibilities: 1. Creative Direction & Concept Development- Lead the design and visualization of sets for music videos, livestreams, events, and brand campaigns. - Translate abstract ideas or scripts into visually impactful stage and set concepts. - Participate in mood board creation and creative pitching with the Creative Manager and Director Team. 2. Graphic & Technical Design Integration - Contribute to the graphic design of printed and digital set elements (backdrops, props, signage, etc.). - Design and render 2D/3D concepts using tools such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Blender (or equivalent). - Ensure all visual set components are brand-aligned and technically feasible within production limitations. 3. Production Coordination - Collaborate closely with lighting, camera, costume, and stage departments for cohesive production execution. - Provide technical specs and drawings for carpenters, builders, and production crews. - Participate in on-site setup, testing, and final adjustments during production rehearsals and shoot days. 4. Leadership & Mentorship - Mentor and guide junior set designers, fostering growth and consistency in creative output. - Build standard procedures and references for the set design team’s workflow, documentation, and approval stages. 5. Project & Budget Management - Estimate set budgets, resource requirements, and propose alternatives that balance creative quality with practical constraints. - Monitor project timelines and production milestones to ensure on-time delivery. ⸻ Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Set Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Architecture, or related field. - Minimum 3–5 years of experience in set design, art direction, or scenic design roles, preferably in music, media, or events. - Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and 3D tools like SketchUp, AutoCAD, Blender or equivalent. - Strong understanding of materials, lighting, scale, and space planning. - Portfolio demonstrating creative versatility and set design projects (music, commercial, or event related). ⸻ Attributes - Strong visual storytelling and concept development skills. - Proven leadership abilities in guiding creative teams or freelancers. - Excellent spatial awareness, creativity, and attention to detail. - Strong communication skills, both in presenting ideas and collaborating with cross-functional teams. - Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable in fast-paced production environments. - Passionate about music, culture, and bringing creative vision to life through set and space.
