Import/Export Manager
The ideal candidate for an Import Export Manager position in Metals and Metal Ores would have strong international trade and logistics experience, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have a thorough understanding of the global trade and related regulations. They would be able to manage the supply chain, moving forward, manage customer service, maintain vendor relationships and find cost savings along the way. They should also have a keen eye for detail and be able to manage and develop relationships with colleagues and clients in multiple countries.
Job stability
This job is considered to be relatively stable as demand for metals and metal ores often remains steady, and the manager would be responsible for managing international supply-demand relationships. As such, this job could provide a steady income for a long period of time.
Responsibilities
• Manage the daily activities associated with metal and metal ore import/export operations.
• Develop efficient systems and processes to ensure timely and accurate documentation, tracking, reporting and filing.
• Work effectively with other departments, customs and freight carriers to ensure adherence to import/export regulations.
• Negotiate shipping and transportation quotes and secure most cost-efficient logistics solutions.
• Monitor product performance in different markets and conduct sampling and quality control checks.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Prepare scheduled and ad-hoc reports on market trends, shipment movement, cost analysis and other related data.
• Keep abreast of relevant import/export regulations and industry changes in order to ensure compliance.
• Maintain relationships with both existing and prospective clients.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency and optimize resources utilization.
