Urgent Need Job Title: Business Development Executive Reports To: Procurement Manager Department: Procurement / Product Development Salary: Negotiate Working Day: Mon-Sat Working Hour: 8:00am - 5:00pm (Sat 3pm) Role Overview Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, the R&D Executive is responsible for identifying new product opportunities, developing and adapting frozen and dry food products, and supporting the company’s expansion into new categories. The role works closely with the Procurement team to evaluate suppliers, validate product specifications, and ensure new items align with market trends, regulatory standards, and the company’s commercial strategy. Key Responsibilities 1. Product Development & Innovation • Research and develop new frozen and dry food product concepts aligned with market demand • Adapt existing imported products to local taste preferences (if needed) • Conduct product testing, sampling, and quality evaluation • Prepare product briefs, technical specifications, and development timelines for new SKUs • Coordinate trial production runs and conduct benchmarking against competitor products in Cambodia and the region • Manage shelf-life testing, packaging trials, and product stability assessments under cold chain conditions 2. Market & Trend Analysis • Monitor food trends, competitors, and pricing in Cambodia and regional markets • Identify gaps in the market for new product lines (e.g. snacks, sauces, ready-to-eat, dry ingredients) • Support management with data-driven product recommendations • Conduct consumer and customer feedback studies, including taste tests and HORECA chef trials • Track ASEAN food industry developments, supplier innovations, and emerging categories relevant to the Cambodian market 3. Supplier & Product Sourcing Support • Work closely with the Procurement Manager and overseas suppliers (mainly China and other regions) on product specifications and development • Support the Procurement Manager in evaluating supplier capabilities for new product categories • Assist in verifying product compliance documents (COA, specs, certifications) • Maintain an updated database of suppliers, product catalogs, and sourcing options across frozen and dry categories • Support price benchmarking, sample sourcing, and supplier negotiation preparation in coordination with the Procurement Manager 4. Regulatory & Compliance • Ensure products meet local regulatory requirements and food safety standards • Review labeling, ingredients, and documentation for imports • Coordinate with Cambodian regulatory authorities (CamControl, GDCE, Ministry of Health, etc.) on product registration and import compliance • Maintain compliance records (HACCP, ISO, HALAL where applicable) and ensure full traceability for all new SKUs 5. Commercial Support • Support marketing team with product positioning, USP, and launch ideas • Assist in preparing product presentations, samples, and training materials • Participate in product launches and customer feedback collection • Collaborate with the Sales team (Wholesale, HORECA, Modern Trade, and E-Commerce) to align new products with channel requirements and customer expectations • Deliver product knowledge training to sales representatives and key customers for new launches 6. Reporting & Administration • Prepare monthly R&D activity reports, project pipeline updates, and new-product performance dashboards for the Procurement Manager • Maintain organized records of product specifications, supplier correspondence, sample logs, and approval documents • Support demand planning by sharing forecasts and projected volumes for new and trial SKUs with the Procurement and Operations teams Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, or related field • 1–3-year experience in food R&D, product development, or food import/export • Knowledge of frozen food and/or dry goods categories is a strong advantage • Understanding of food regulations and documentation • Strong analytical and market research skills • Good communication skills (English required; Chinese is a plus for supplier coordination) • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with ERP systems (e.g. eCloudView) is an advantage • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple product development projects simultaneously • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally overseas for supplier visits, exhibitions, and trade fairs ________________________________________ Key Skills • Product development • Market trend analysis • Problem-solving and cost awareness • Attention to detail (especially specs and compliance) • Project management and ability to meet deadlines • Supplier coordination and negotiation support • Cross-functional teamwork and stakeholder communication • Data analysis and reporting (advanced Excel proficiency) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Number of new SKUs successfully launched per quarter • Gross profit margin on new product launches (in line with the company’s policy) • Speed-to-market: time from product concept to commercial launch • Compliance rate of new products with Cambodian food safety and import regulations • Sales channel adoption rate and customer satisfaction scores for new launches
